Id booked the tour as part of my first birthday celebration post-covid. We took them to Waterbom in kuta early the day before to wear them out, left mid afternoon, got an early dinner and got us all to bed before 8pm, as they had been staying up late throughout our trip. Althoughyou can do Mount Batur with or without a guide, it is not recommended (and could be dangerous) to climb without a licenced guide, unless you are a local who is very familiar with the terrain of the volcano. At Gunung Batur car park, we met our guide and needed to register. Therainforest section of Kilimanjaro is arguably the prettiest part of the trek, but you need good tread on your boots as it can get slippery in the rain. 2.
