#1 ยท Aug 18, 2015 (Edited) I have a '13 825i, I couldn't find where this had been covered previously, but my parking brake warning is now beeping continuously. In the normal state, it only beeps if you try to put the machine in gear when the parking brake is set. Any ideas how to start chasing this one down? Thx 1 - 11 of 11 Posts A avdks After update 6, whenever I put on the Parking Brake the master caution alarm comes on like normal but if I hit the Master caution button to silence the alarm the button goes from bright red to no red as it should. The problem is that the Parking Brake Alarm still keeps beeping. The only way to silence it now is to turn the parking break off.
Check to ensure you have enough fluid in the brake master cylinder. A lot of vehicles have the sensor which detects the level of the fluid in on the same circuit as the parking brake. If you find this low, you may want to check the condition of your brake pads.
There are usually two possible reasons why your parking brake warning light stays on after you've released the parking brake: The parking brake is not fully disengaged. This means that releasing the pedal, lever or button did not completely release the actual parking brake. Faulty Switch: One common reason for the Parking Brake light to stay on is a failing or failed switch. This can be checked easily by moving the handle to and fro after it is down. If the light turns off (or turns off and then back on), the switch is the most likely culprit and will need to be replaced. Parking brake "engaged" light won't turn off I spent the last 3 days working on the interior of my 2013 SCrew XLT 4x4. I had the negative battery terminal disconnected the whole time, with the exception of reconnecting to move the electric driver's seat to get to all the bolts once to remove the seat and again to reinstall. I took my less than one month old truck into service because when I release the parking brake, the light and the warning stays on. I have to set and release it a few times, maybe jiggle the handle, for it to go off. Engine running alarm stopped when park brake released. With engine off the alarm did not turn off when park brake released but, did stop when battery power cut and commenced again when power restored. If the parking brake light doesn't turn off, several troubleshooting steps can be taken to identify the issue. These include-1. Checking The Parking Brake Switch . The parking brake switch is under the parking brake lever or pedal. Ensure the parking brake lever or pedal is fully released to check the button. Temporary Fix Pull over and set the transmission in Park. Please turn off the ignition, then turn it back on. Pull the parking brake switch and keep it for 10 seconds, then release it. Start the engine, and the light, in most cases, will turn off. Here is a list of common problems that cause the Parking Brake to stay on. tdog.
